Patton Oswalt, Bill Maher, Tracy Morgan and Dane Cook Headlining this Year’s New York Comedy Festival
Have plans for the first week in November? Break them! The line-up for this year’s New York Comedy Festival is looking hotter than ever. Comedy heavyweight Patton Oswalt is stepping back onto the stage. Bill Maher’s political wit and satire will be on full display, mere days before the grand finale to the craziest election our country has ever seen!
200 Comedians, 60 Shows, 6 Incredible Venues
Iconic locations around the big apple will be overflowing with laughter from Nov. 3-6. Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Madison Square Gardens, the Beacon Theatre and NYU will all host comedy acts that are sure to excite and delight!
Sponsored by Comedy Central, Caroline Hirsch has turned this annual can’t miss comedy extravaganza into something that only the queen of New York comedy could have pulled together. If you usually catch your favorite comics at Carolines on Broadway, you already know how entertaining the things she pulls together can be.
When interviewed, Hirsch said:
“We’re thrilled to have such an amazing group of talented comedians this year. The festival continues to present the performers at the forefront of comedy, while giving audiences an opportunity to enjoy these great artists in many of the city’s most iconic venues; and with the presidential election taking place the week after the festival, I’m sure there will be no shortage of hilarious commentary on all of the political happenings.”
A Comedic Legend Returns, Overcoming Personal Tragedy
Patton Oswalt’s choice to headline this year’s NYCF is already big news. But, the story behind his decision makes this a powerful moment in comedy. In April Oswalt’s wife, Michelle McNamera (author of many sensational crime stories), tragically passed away in her sleep. Patton went into a deep depression and withdrew from friends, family and the stage.
On November 3rd at 7PM, the Beacon Theatre will host a return to comedy, 6 months in the making. When the lights come up, Patton Oswalt will have officially reached a new milestone in overcoming a profound grief. His choice to make this return at NYCF gives the opening night of the festival an incredible gift and sense of purpose.
I can’t wait to stand in the audience and witness this inspirational moment. Laughter really is the best medicine.
