Max Moacanin

Max Moacanin is a New York-based stand-up comedian. He performs regularly at parks and outdoor venues throughout New York City. Max started his comedy career as an indoor stand-up comedian, usually using a microphone and an amplification system to tell his jokes to audiences that were seated closely together. This past July, he decided to take his talents outdoors. Now he performs outside for sparse crowds in compliance with New York State’s social distancing measures. Speaking loudly and remembering to put on sunscreen before shows has been a difficult transition for Max. But audiences agree that he is making the adjustment *reasonably* well.

My Joke of the Day:

Before the railroads were built, people were like, “Ah, man… I just lost my wagon of thought.”

Most common Quarantine Activity:

Reading. I’ve read four of Robert Caro’s books during quarantine and I recently started a fifth. I want to finish all six of Caro’s books before scientists finish the coronavirus vaccine. That’s my goal.

Favorite Quarantine show/movie:

The Last Dance – the ESPN documentary on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

Favorite Instagram accounts:

@maxisnicee (different Max) – He does some really funny imitations of NBA players.

Favorite quarantine meal & drink:

Food: Carne asada tacos with guacamole.

Drink: Iced coffee with honey. I also like water. Yeah, water’s good.

First thing you’ll do once isolation is over…

I think I’ll try doing indoor stand-up comedy again.
