I am a New York based standup comedian. I was born and raised in Bangladesh and moved to Canada for University. I started standup comedy a few years ago in Toronto. After taking a class at the Second City, Toronto, I fell in love with standup.
Since I started standup, I have performed at Absolute Comedy Club and Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club in Toronto, Gotham Comedy Club, Carolines on Broadway, New York Comedy Club, Standup NY, and West Side Comedy Club in New York City. I even got to perform in Bangkok, Thailand. I was featured on NYC FunnYmmigrants Comedy Festival and did a 30-minute headlining spot.
I was one of the NYC semi-finalists in the 2018 StandUp NBC nationwide search for comedian competition. It was a thrilling experience, and I can’t wait to do it again next year.
I was the co-producer and co-host of a monthly show called The Young and the Awkward at the Comedy Bar, and a weekly open mic called The Week-End Show. I hosted open-mics with The Laughing Buddha Comedy. I also run a Joke workshop called “Joke Workshop with Ali Mehedi” in New York City. I invite local comedians to write together and encourage each other. And I host open-mic at West Side Comedy Club as part of the F-Comedy Club.
