It was prime time on a Saturday night at the New York Comedy Club at the East Village location. We met up with Stand up Comedian Eagle Witt to learn more about him and talk a little about stand up comedy.

What other jobs did you do before starting stand up comedy? I worked at the Barclays Center as an usher.

How did you know you wanted to be a comedian? My friends just always told me I should do it. At some point, I listened.

A well known Los Angeles stand up comic Brody Stevens age 48 has died Friday in Los Angeles.

“Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community,” Stevens’ reps said in a statement. “He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

According to TMZ, Stevens was found in his L.A. home in an apparent suicide. read more

Caitlin Peluffo – New York Comedy Club

Caitlin Peluffo is one of our favorite up and coming comedians and we decided to meet up with her at the New York Comedy Club in the East Village right after her show to ask her a few questions about Stand up comedy.

When and where did you start performing comedy? What was your first time on stage like?

I started performing comedy in NYC about 5 years ago. I always wanted to try comedy, but didn’t have to courage until I went through an awful breakup and thought “what do I have to lose?” At first, I started to open mics with Laughing Buddha Comedy, which were about 5 minutes of stage time. Could I fill it? Absolutely not. Did I try with horribly embarrassing stories from my past relationship with zero punchlines? Of course. I apologize to everyone who was forced to endure the therapeutic torture. read more

Kevin Barnett, the NYC stand up comedian has passed away. We just saw an announcement on The Stand NYC Instagram profile page. Among the other comedians was Yannis Pappas who shared a tweet sending his condolences to his friend and fellow comedian. He wrote “RIP another comedian who was a great dude. Seriously a great dude. @Fatboybarnett rest easy Kevin.” Other comics such as Chelsea Peretti took to her twitter account and wrote “ I am so sad”

Now there is no known cause of death made to the general public. read more

Chris Distefano’s new general deal with Comedy Central could function as a blueprint for future deals for top comedians to aspire to lock.

The agreement with Comedy Central carries a second-hour special, an animated show, an unscripted series along with also the continuation of his Friday night interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano, in addition to first look at content created/developed for any Comedy Central platform.

The venture comes after the 34-year-old, New York-based comedian had seven pilots not to make it into the air within the last several years, including a for CBS based on his lifetime together with Chaz Palminteri (A Bronx Tale) playing his dad. He also co-created the former job with How I Met Your Mother founders Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. read more

2018 was a rough year for a lot of people, but the year proved to be particularly hard on Pete Davidson, following a whirlwind romance and involvement with Ariana Grande and some very public struggles with mental health. His return to the Weekend Update desk in 2019 enabled Davidson to address his own well-being, but additionally allowed Davidson an excuse to invite John Mulaney into SNL to talk about The Mule, a film starring, and directed by, Clint Eastwood.

At December of 2019, Davidson posted a message on Instagram saying”I really don’t want to be on this Earth anymore. I am doing my best to remain here for you but I really don’t know how much longer I can last. All I have ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.” Indiewire reports that soon after the post, several different celebrities publicly expressed concern, along with the NYPD soon performed a health check and verified that Davidson was 30 Rockefeller Plaza rehearsing for SNL. Pete Davidson’s only appearance on the last SNL of 2019 revealed him introducing a musical act, which makes his return to the Weekend Update desk — a place where he’s frequently spoken about his life — an opportunity to address the world on how he’s been. Rather, he brought out Mulaney to make fun of a film where Clint Eastwood directs himself using multiple threesomes. read more
