Gad Elmaleh

Gad Elmaleh was born in Morocco in April 1971. His father was a mime. He was a student at Georges Bizet school and Lycée Lyautey in Casablanca but didn’t like school much. In 1988, Gad left Casablanca to go to Montreal. Johnny Watson

Johnny Watson

Johnny-Watson

Johnny Watson A lot of comedians exaggerate about themselves when telling jokes. When Johnny Watson tells a joke about himself, his family, and his upbringing, no exaggeration is necessary. Watson, a white kid living in a series of black and Hispanic neighborhoods while growing up in New Jersey with two brothers and two sisters, couldn’t fight, so he told jokes to survive. And he’s still telling jokes to his legions of fans throughout the United States. And most of those (real) bits are about his family – “my father was a heroin addict and all my mother did was watch TV and smoke cigarettes”; or his upbringing in poor neighborhoods – “I was the poor kid on free lunch who always got my balls busted so since I couldn’t really fight, I had to be funny.” So funny that he was voted funniest and best story teller in grammar school and in high school. Turned out the “high school honor” was his only honor. Johnny graduated LAST in his class. His grandmother implored him to become a comedian because “you can’t do anything else right.” Watson started drinking when he was five years old and kept on going until high school. “I was burned out from drinking by the time I got to high school, so I became the designated driver before they had designated drivers,” he says. read more

Kevin Brown

kevin brown

Kevin Brown is a stand up comedian and a father of Vania Brown, a senior in high school and a budding writer/journalist. He is the middle child of Bishop and Annie Pecola Brown and he has an older brother Andre (Dre’) and younger sister LaShawn. Both siblings play significant roles in his organization (Mgmt.). Kevin and his brother Dre created and produced “The Uptown Comedy Club” TV show that broadcasted on FOX 5 network for four seasons (1992-1995). “The Uptown Comedy Club” was located in the heart of Harlem on 125th St and experienced National success in the 80’s and 90’s. He managed, taught and worked with some of today’s most successful comedians, i.e. JB Smoove of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, Flex Alexander of UPN’s One on One, Tracy Morgan of NBC’s 30 Rock and Chris Tucker of the ” Rush Hour” franchise, to name a few. Kevin attended the T. Schreiber Studio for acting and comedy after his successful run with the Uptown Comedy Club. In the Urban community aka’s and nicknames are common. Kevin referred to himself as “Big Kev” to distinguish his brand. Kevin later added “Dot Com” to his “Big Kev” moniker to differentiate himself from others who use the same title. At the “30 Rock” audition, upon entering the room, Tracy Morgan recognized his homie Kevin Brown whom he had not seen for eight years. Tracy introduced Kevin to Tina as “Big Kev Dot Com” hence the moniker for the character. Kevin Brown plays “Dot Com,” a Bodyguard/ Best Friend & right hand man in the famous entourage to the eccentric Tracy Jordan portrayed by Actor/Comedian Tracy Morgan. The series takes place behind the scenes of a fictional live sketch comedy series depicted on NBC starring Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan. “30 Rock” referred to the address of the GE Building (30 Rockefeller Plaza) where NBC Studios is located until the recent name change. Personal Quotes My key to personal growth is….. never ever, ever, put all of your eggs in one basket because there are grimy little people in this world whose only job is to knock over your basket. My mantra is never be afraid of “hard work”! The difference between “Winners” and “Losers” is, losers blame others for their failures and winners blame themselves. If you want to be a success you have to be accountable! Television Awards Kevin was the recipient of the 15th annual “SCREEN ACTORS GUILD” (SAG) award, for his portrayal of “Dot Com” in N.B.C.’s “30 ROCK”. Emmy Awards Nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series – 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 Won for Outstanding Comedy Series 2009, 2008 and 2007 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series read more
