Well, it turns out that Sarah Silverman was wrong and dragged Al Martin through the mud unintentionally over an issue that both Sarah and Al agree on!

What happens when a billionaire pop star makes it onto the stand-up stage of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon? Well, Madonna has solved that one for us with a pathetic attempt at stand-up. The saddest part? The Tonight Show represented the pinnacle of a stand-up comic’s career; a lifetime of pinching pennies and trying to survive until the next gig.

Watch the video below and you’ll see that the act was clearly staged. Was it that she was trying to blow it so badly that it was funny? Or did she simply not prepare and thought she could just “Madonna It”? read more

Interview with Esther Ku for BestComedyTickets.com By : Kevin McCarthy

KM: Thanks for talking with us. To start off could you tell us a little about what drove you to be a comedian and how you got your start doing stand-up?

EK: Sure. Well I was always a writer in my high school and I wrote for the school paper and all these kids at school would always come up to me like “I read your articles first cause they’re funny!” So when you’re a kid and somebody tells you you’re funny, you’re like “Oh, I’m gonna be a comedian.” You don’t ever think of the practicality of “Well, I’m gonna be broke for ten years.” And once you hear like, people coming up to you telling you your funny a few times, you’re like “okay, yeah, maybe I can do this.” So, when I graduated college, which I should’ve never gone to college, I think that was a mistake, but I was trying to lose my virginity and I didn’t know any other legitimate way to go about doing that. So after I graduated from college, I moved to Boston and I started with the open mic scene over there. So that’s how I got my start really. read more

A major issue in the United States has been the statistical gap in pay between men and women for the same work. A recent study showed women in full-time positions were paid 78 cents on the dollar when compared to men working the same job. Has this trend made its way onto the stage at the venerable New York Comedy Club?

Sarah Silverman checked her witty, satirical attitude at the door and brought her grievances to Levo League’s YouTube channel. Levo League is an online community of professional women who offer guidance and support to other women looking to move their career forward. With “fighting the gender pay gap” as one of their focal points, it’s not surprising that they would look for a compelling, headline grabbing celebrity story to draw attention to the issue. read more

Following Jon Stewart’s departure announcement on  February 10, 2015,  Comedy Central gave the official  word  on Monday (March 30, 2015) that  Trevor Noah  would be  taking over as host for The Daily Show. Jon  Stewart has  been credited with not only developing a  top-rated show  in a tough times a lot,  but creating the  category itself.  Sure, Saturday Night Live has done their  “Weekend  Update” for a number of years, but there hadn’t been a dedicated  satirical news show prior to Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show along with its sister program The Colbert Report. So, to say that Trevor Noah has some big shoes to fill would be an absolute understatement. read more

Hannibal Buress Called Bill Cosby a Rapist During a Stand-up Set

The previous evening at his late night show at the Trocadero, comic Hannibal Buress did an augmented bit about Philadelphia own local comedian Bill Cosby, calling him an attacker. Cosby has been blamed for tranquilizing and sexually ambushing different ladies, incorporating Barbara Bowman in Philadelphia magazine. He has not, nonetheless, ever been criminally accused of assault (the lawful meaning of which differs by jurisdiction).* The above recording begins around 15-20 seconds into it. read more
