Pete Davidson would like to tell you about his many gay friends. At least, this is how the trailer for his first Netflix comedy special opens.

Although it’s early to tell if the one-hour special will be entirely all gay jokes. This positioning seems to be a double down on Davidson’s brand of juvenile jokes. Often, they are about the male sex organ wrapped in a tattooed millennial facade.

Netflix recently released the first official trailer for his special“Pete Davidson: Alive From New York“. The special, an obvious reference to “SNL.” seems titled mainly to remind audiences that Davidson is very much alive. read more

Funniest Moments from the 2016 Oscars

by James Lang

More than 34 million people tuned-in to watch the Oscars this year. While that might sound like a lot, unfortunately it’s an eight year low for one of Hollywood’s most revered franchises. Don’t worry though, if you were one of the people tuned out this year, we’ve got you covered! Here’s a couple of the funniest moments from this year’s Oscars (a.k.a. The White People’s Choice Awards).

Chris Rock’s Killer Monologue

Wow, Chris Rock nailed his duties as host of this year’s Oscars. He was both edgy and hilarious, while still seriously acknowledging the concerns of organizations like “Black Lives Matter”; multiple minority celebrities and organizations decried the fact that this year’s Oscars neglected to include a single black actor or actress among their nominees. Chris Rock’s initial tweet after the nominations were announced, and his monologue perfectly held Hollywood’s feet to the fire while giving the television audience more than a few laughs at the expense of the celebrities seated around the stage.

Whoopi = Joy, Tracy Morgan is The Danish Girl, and Chris Rock gets lost in Martian

Filmed especially for the Oscars, Whoopi Goldberg and the team behind Oscar-nominated Joy did a clever skit where Whoopi gets one of her classic one-liners in: “Maybe one day they’ll make a movie about a skinny white lady who invented a mop! Of course a black girl would have to invent a cure to cancer before they even give her a TV movie.”  And the fun times kept rolling with parodies of The Martian and The Danish Girl, with satirical jabs at the racial overtones surrounding this year’s awards.

Big Jay Oakerson Launching Original Series with NBC Universal

Big Jay Oakerson is launching his own original series alongside NBC’s premiere of Seeso, a brand new comedy streaming service airing early next year. The show’s called: What’s Your Fucking Deal, and it’s where Oakerson will get the chance to highlight his brutally funny crowd work alongside co-host Ardie Fuqua.

Now, the show may be new, but the concept has been years in the making. Oakerson says him and Fuqua used to try and find new ways to entertain the crowd after a long night of jokes. The duo would grab the last set, one would stay on stage, the other would head into the crowd — and from there they would just talk, and along the way pick on some audience members they’d made friends with throughout the night. Oakerson and Fuqua went on to do the show at the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival a couple years back and impressed many. They later went on to pitch, and sell the show to NBC Universal, which will air the show exclusively on Seeso this coming January.

Seeso will cost viewers $3.99 a month, and will give them access to some of NBC’s greatest comedy hits including: “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and “The Office”, “Parks and Recreation” and “30 Rock”.

And while Oakerson’s original series will be the first to grace Seeso, it won’t be the last. NBC Universal plans to launch other exclusive series like reality show spoof “Bajillion Dollar Propertie$” from executive producers Scott Aukerman, Ben Garant, Tom Lennon and Kulap Vilaysack.

It’s has been inked and scheduled that Donald Trump is to host Saturday Night Live. As we come closer to the date, more and more people are taken to Twitter with the hashtag #RacismIsntFunny, they have created a petition to give Donald Trump the boot from hosting the popular SNL show.

The hashtag is connected with his racial remarks that Donald Trump made back in June, when he went public that he would be running to be the next president of the United States.

As the pressure builds from various parties around the internet, including a congressman, looking to have Donald Trump  banned from hosting SNL. The groups are asking for Saturday Night Live and NBC executives to ban Donald Trump,  and not give him the ability to use the popular show as a platform.

The proccess started with the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, which condemns both SNL and NBC for allowing Trump the ability to host the converted show. The National Hispanic Leadership group writes “will legitimize and validate his anti-Latino comments.” The letter goes on to say, ““We are appalled that you would enable Trump’s hateful speech for nothing less than a ratings ploy and ask that you rescind the SNL invitation.”

Donald Trump has hosted SNL in the past. The real estate guru was on SNL in 2004.  When he was the star of The Apprentice, which also aired NBC. He wasn’t as much in the public view as he is today. He has made his political opinions well-known.

Congressman Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) calls out NBC Universal and it’s affiliated company Comcast. pleading NBCU and Comcast to make pledge to fight for diversity. The congressman took the floor at Congress on Wednesday. His remarks “To put Donald Trump on the air in American living rooms on the signature comedy show of one of the most important national networks,” he said, “after saying that Mexicans are rapists, drug-dealers and criminals – that is a corporate blunder too big to be ignored.” read more

hillary clinton SNLIt seems there is currently no stopping Hillary Clinton especially when she appeared on last Saturday’s season premiere Saturday Night Live. Hillary flawlessly took on the role of a friendly bartender who went by the name of Val. In the Irish themed pub, Hillary was seen in character serving familiar cast member Kate McKinnon, who was set out to impersonate her. “I needed to blow off some steam. I have had a hard couple of 22 years” Kate began as she took on the role of impersonation Hillary. Not only was Hillary Clinton teamed up with Kate McKinnon, but popular pop princess Miley Cyrus also featured on the show as Saturday Night Live’s host for the evening and also performed as musical guest during the show. And if that wasn’t enough Miley also appeared for a brief moment in the Clinton sketch as a friendly bar patron.

The real Hillary Clinton who remained in character for the duration of the sketch was seen to make two policy remarks in which included her opposed opinion of the Keystone Pipeline and also her support for gay marriage. “Could have been sooner” McKinnon’s character replied to supporting gay marriage. “Fair point” exclaimed ‘Val’ as Hillary Clinton smiled.

“Val, I wish you could be president!” McKinnon chimed in with a delighted smile across the bar towards Hillary Clinton’s bartender character, Val. “Me too!” Val responded with a playful grin before the duo broke into a sudden rendition of “Lean On Me.” Last Saturday’s episode marked Hillary Clinton’s second time appearing on the show.

Shakir Standley (Last Comic Standing) Attempts Stand-Up on A Train

Part of being a comic is knowing the right time and place for sharing your talents with the people around you. As Shakir Standley (from Last Comic Standing) found out, a packed train car with a captive audience may not be the best place to launch into a set.

As a current finalist on NBC’s hit show, Last Comic Standing, Shakir shared his hilarious experience with the audience. It worked, as he’s survived yet another round.

http://www.nbc.com/last-comic-standing/video/shakir-standley-the-invitationals-set/2887918

As the story goes, Shakir stood up to perform a set (at his former friend’s request) only to be booed by a Ukranian passenger. What started out as “No!!! No!!!” eventually morphed into “F*&?! You!!! F*&?! You!!!”. Luckily for Shakir, as he refused to quit his set, a female passenger sitting in front got up and told the Ukranian to sit down, then calmly turned back to Shakir and ecouraged him to continue with his set.

Shakir Standley, if the story is true, gets credit for having the guts to continue his set in the face of such opposition. Although, in hindsight, I think he would agree that it’s better to perform comedy for an audience that isn’t stuck in an aluminum can, shooting along two rods of steel.

While we’re on the subject of Last Comic Standing, (yes, we’re talking about the show where Amy Schumer came in fourth place), another phenomenal stand-up comedian from last season is Mike Vecchione. Check out his routine below!
