If the Raindrops United: Drawings and Cartoons

He is known as The World Champ, actor, comedian Judah Friedlander is AWESOME. Not only is he a excellent comedian, actor, he’s the world champ of the world. Judah can be seen nightly performing at most of the local comedy clubs in NYC.

Judah is mainly known for his role on the NBC hit 30 Rock where he played the character of Frank Rossitano. As well as such films as Wet Hot, American Summerer, American Splendor, and The Wrestler. Though before all the film fame he was a hard working stand up comic, and he quickly became one of my favorites. The first time I saw Judah perform was back in 2001 at Comic Strip Live on the Upper East Side, when I first started to promote stand up comedy. What caught my attention was how great he is working the crowd. After the shows he would greet all the fans and he’s a really is a genuine nice person. He would really take the time and talk to everyone and was good at marketing himself. I knew then he was something special and he quickly became one of my favorite comedians. read more

Laughter is the Best Medicine – Benefits of Comedy Shows

Comedy is a very important part of human life has it has infinite benefits. However, the benefits of comedy itself are not much as most of its benefits come from laughs that come with it. Since the most important element of comedy is laughter, the benefits of regular laughter cannot be separated from comedy. Comedy tickets always sell like hot cake because of the numerous importance of laughter.

While a few people believe that you can develop yourself to be a comedian, most people believe comedy is inborn. Comedians are born like that. Both beliefs are right as we have both categories of comedians making waves right now. The only difference is that comedians with natural talents do not usually prepare for any event as they can create humor out of every situation while comedians without natural talents prepare and even rehearse several times before they go for events. read more

New York Comedian Aaron Berg performed 25 sets on September 12 — two more than his goal, and nearly twice the amount of the previous record. Back in 2003 Steve Byrne set the record at 13, as famously portrayed in the film 13 or Bust. Now Berg is set to release his own documentary on his voyage to the record book, all while paying homage to the New York City comedy scene.

The stunt took 11 hours — and involved Berg shuffling between clubs, navigating traffic to make it there on time, and oh ya — he was being followed by a documentary crew of more than a dozen. And did we mention he wasn’t working with material? Yep, Berg didn’t repeat a single joke the entire night — and successfully warmed up crowds from a handful, to over a hundred in less than 10 minute sets. read more

Doug Stanhope Shares His Top 10 Comedians

The Magazine Time Out London recently added Doug Standhope top 10 favorite stand up comedians. Doug Standhope would definitely make a lot of comics top ten list. He’s considered to be the very best stand up comic performing today.

He is unapologetic, abrasive, politically polarizing and highly opinionated. His twitter profile says ‘Drunk, comedian, obsolete” and at any given time, at least one of those is wrong.

Doug Standhope top ten comedians include some heavy hitters Dave Attell, Neil Hamburger, Junior Stopka, and Sean Rouse. Stanhope calls Rouse a “master craftsman” and “madly original.” Attell comes in at number 7, but that doesn’t stop Stanhope from calling him the “greatest comedian ever.” Coming in at number 2 on the list, Doug praises Steve Rannazzisi, calling him a heroic survivor of 9/11. Maybe the news hasn’t reached London yet but someone might want to go back and get a new quote on that one. Although Stanhope’s list focuses mostly on comedians performing today, his number 1 is comedy legend Mitch Hedberg. read more

free stand up comedy festival nycI sat down with my good friend and comedian/producer Joe Gerics. Joe is the producer of many Standup comedy shows around NYC and recently just started co-producing the Free Stand up Comedy Festival starting this Saturday September 5th. See link below for schedule and details.

http://www.freestandupfestival.com/
We met up just before his show Country Time at the New York Comedy Club.

So When does the festival start?

The festival is starting Saturday, the kick off show is here at New York Comedy Club at 5pm and we’re gonna have 2 shows every night.  So 14 shows; one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn and Queens every night. We started it for a couple reasons, same reason I started producing. Really just stage time and to immerse myself more within the comedy community. I wanted to be on a festival, so i thought, weIl I’ll just run my own festival. Thats always been my plan, you have to create your own stage and your own opportunity. read more
